Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Open sea / reef areas outside marine protected areas.

Spearfishing by free-diving (breath-hold) is permitted in general fishing waters that are not inside a marine reserve, national park or other no-take protected area, subject to a fishing licence, closed seasons, size limits and the protected-species list. Use of SCUBA to take marine life is prohibited everywhere.
