How spearfishing is treated at Kabira MPA (Kabira Bay), Ishigaki Island, Okinawa.

Marine protected area under the Fisheries Resources Protection Act. Per Article 33 of the Okinawa Regulations, harvesting aquatic animals and plants OTHER than fish, octopus, squid and green laver is prohibited (up to 6 months imprisonment / fine up to 100,000 yen). Spearfishing here is effectively barred for most species and powered spearguns are prohibited prefecture-wide regardless.
