How spearfishing is treated at Aire Marine Protégée de Joal-Fadiouth.

Community marine protected area (AMP) created in 2004, approx. 174 km2 (17,400 ha), on the Petite Côte. Managed under the Direction des Aires Marines Communautaires Protégées. Fishing access is regulated/restricted within the AMP; extractive activities including spearfishing are subject to the area's management rules and core no-take zones.

License requiredvia Direction des Pêches maritimes, Ministère des Pêches, des Infrastructures maritimes et portuaires

Apply to the competent services of the Ministry in charge of maritime fishing (Direction des Pêches maritimes). For sport fishing a vessel-based permit requires affiliation to a club/centre affiliated to the national sport-fishing association; the precise procedure and any shore-based recreational diving permit modalities are fixed by ministerial arrêté.
